The George Mitchell Minstrels / The Television Toppers
In 1958 the BBC aired the first of ‘The Black and White Minstrel Shows’.
The show was hugely successful in its day presenting popular music in a combination of song and dance. With elegant costumes and well choreographed dance routines it was viewed at its peak by 18 million people.
